Artistry @ Summit: Sharing Your Gifts

Worship at Summit includes many different kinds of artistic and creative expression. Recent guests have included dancers, a painter (painting live during worship!), a saxophonist, a violinist, a trumpeter, a college women’s choir, and a gay men’s chorus - not to mention Summit’s own choir and instrumentalists, who present a wide range of music, from gospel and rap to Taizé and classical favorites. Worship planning is itself an open and creative enterprise – we like to think outside the box, and invite input from anyone interested.

Summit’s worship space is decorated with beautiful handmade tapestries, modern stained glass windows, and a bright red Rieger organ! It’s also very flexible, with movable chairs allowing everything from standard concert seating to seating in the round.

The arts are also a vital part of life at Summit at other times of the week. This year we hope to put on another musical in the Spring, and continue to create more music opportunities for neighborhood kids and adults. Summit is also home to an annual winter solstice gathering, which brings people together in song, chant, dance, drumming, and prayer from different spiritual traditions. Our chapel space, occupied by the University Area Enrichment Association, hosts art classes and drama rehearsals. We enjoy the culinary arts too, and frequently cook and eat together.

COME JOIN THE CREATIVE PROCESS OF PLANNING FOR WORSHIP

EVERY TUESDAY AT 5PM IN THE CENTRUM!  All are welcome.
