Campus Ministry
At Summit you’ll hear a lot about how we do integrated campus ministry. That’s just a fancy way of saying, we like to include students in everything we do here because we think community works best when all age groups work together. Students are welcome to get involved in Summit’s ministry at all levels (even Council if you really like meetings!) We also know the importance of having time with peers, so there are groups for that too. Check it out:
Study & Spiritual Development
Summit students typically have a new topic for study each quarter. Studies include a mix of intellectual conversation and spiritual exploration. We try to keep things relevant, exciting, and connected to students’ lives. Summit is a place where questions and uncertainty is welcomed, with hope that as a community of people we can gain wisdom and clarity from those around us.

Internships
Summit offers a variety of internships available to students throughout the year. These internships are designed to grow student leaders who are passionate about ministry both within and outside the walls of the church. Each student works closely with Summit’s pastors, staff, and lay leaders on specific projects that match their interests. Students are encouraged to explore their own ideas and gifts they bring to ministry as well as work with and learn from our existing ministries. Interns are hired on a rolling basis throughout the year as funds are available, so ask about it today! Email: lucy@summitumc.org

Intentional Living
This year five students are living next door to Summit as an intentional living community focused on Food & Faith. Together they cook and share regular meals, learn about community gardening, food production, and other intentional living communities in Columbus. Exploring the intersections of faith and community and how those relate to food and table will be the core for this community.
We are looking to expand the house (to the other side of the duplex) for 2013-2014. If you are interested in starting an intentional living community with your own theme, let us know! If you’re intrigued but have no idea where to begin, email lucy@summitumc.org. Click here to view the Application.
Mission & Service
Love in service is a core foundation of Summit on 16th. We’ve got lots of opportunities to serve at Summit and in the neighborhood throughout the year. Check out the “Serve through us” tab on the main page.
In 2008, we traveled to the Dominican Republic and Haiti where we worked with community health programs that focus on children. In 2009 we travelled to New Jersey and learned about immigration and migrant workers who work on the mushroom farms. In 2010 we continued our involvement in immigration and travelled to Brownsville, Texas where we learned more about border issues. Last year, we to traveled to Atlanta where we explored urban questions regarding poverty, sustainability and hospitality.
Student Lounge
Summit has a new Student Lounge open to students during church office hours. It’s a sunny place full of windows, couches, and large working tables good for studying. There’s also a DVD player and a few video games when you need a break. Our student studies meet here, and on cold nights light a fire in the fireplace.
