In the summer, Summit will be a host site in partnership with GEMS and Maynard Ave. UMC to host the 2nd year of the University District CDF Freedom Schools Program. This 6-week summer literacy program is designed to promote a love of reading in kids who most need the assistance (grades Pre-K through 12). Dates for 2012 are June 18-July 27.

$90 will cover the costs of books for one student. At the end of the summer, the students take home the books and start their own library!
We have hired our Summer Staff – they are already hard at work helping us raise $$ for Freedom School and get our students enrolled!
