When we love our neighbors with the same radical, inclusive love Jesus showed, we become living proof of what God looks like to a watching world.

Love Like Jesus: Be the Evidence

Drawing from Jesus's command to "love one another as I have loved you," this message explores how the church is called to do more than simply be nice — we are called to be tangible, visible evidence of God's love in our communities. Just as Jesus showed the world what God looked like by eating with outsiders, healing the broken, and welcoming the forgotten, his followers are invited to continue that same work by opening their tables, their lives, and their hearts to the people right in front of them.

The sermon challenges each of us to move beyond seeing people as "others" and instead treat them as neighbors — whether that's a struggling teenager, a family who can't put food on the table, or someone wondering if there is any room for them anywhere. Through small, intentional acts of kindness, generosity, and genuine welcome, we become the answer to someone's question about whether God cares. This week, rather than only praying "God, show me where you are," we are encouraged to also pray "God, show me where I can be your love" to the person standing right in front of us.

  • Love your neighbor as a visible, lived-out reflection of God's character, not just a polite gesture.
  • Every act of genuine welcome, generosity, and kindness can show someone what God actually looks like.
  • Take the kindness challenge: invite someone to serve, encourage, or love your community alongside you.
