Jesus calls his followers to love one another not as a suggestion but as the defining mark of discipleship—in every neighborhood, school, workplace, and family.
Love One Another: A Legacy of Faith
In this closing message of the "Love One Another" series, the pastor reflects on what it truly means to follow Jesus's command to love one another as he has loved us. Drawing on Jesus's final hours with his disciples—where the teacher became servant—the message reminds us that love is not simply something Christians talk about, but something they demonstrate through kindness, friendship, and seeing people around them as individuals worthy of care. The call is simple but demanding: love God with everything we have, and let that love spill out into every corner of our everyday lives.
The sermon challenges the congregation to use the remaining days of the 30-day intentional living challenge to begin seeing people differently—neighbors, coworkers, and strangers—not as background figures but as people Jesus loves. Communion was shared as a sacred reminder of why this is all possible: because Jesus loved us first. Three reflection questions were offered to carry into the week, inviting each person to consider how they are living out this love, who they might be overlooking, and what it would look like to truly be the church beyond Sunday morning.
- Love one another is not optional—it is the mark by which the world recognizes followers of Jesus.
- Kindness opens doors; seeing people as individuals rather than obstacles is the first step to genuine love.
- Because Jesus loved us first, we are freed and empowered to love others sacrificially in every area of life.
